 |
|
|
|
| ADSL Broadband requires different
hardware to any you have previously used to connect
to the Internet. Normal modems, ISDN terminal adapters,
ISDN routers and even leased line routers simply will
not work. |
| |
| The new hardware is designed speficially
to work with ADSL connections. The hardware you would
need varies depending on exactly how you want to use
the ADSL connection. |
| |
| Single Computer (PC or Mac) |
| |
 |
|
| For these connections
you need either a USB modem or a 1 port router. Modems
plug directly into an available USB port on your computer
and the TOUCHCOMMS modems also work with Apple MAC's.
Its then simply a case of loading drivers to connect.
|
|
| An
ADSL Modem, incl 2 filters is available from £29.99
(excl VAT). |
|
|
| Multiple Computers
(At home or in an office) |
 |
|
| These connections
require ADSL Routers and some network infrastructure
(basically a network card in each PC). |
|
| To connect multiple
PC's two ways can be used - either using a 4 port router
and connecting up to 4 PC's directly to the router or
using a 1 port router and connecting a hub or a switch
into the router |
|
| If you want to use
a wireless network, the TOUCHCOMMS 4 port
wireless router, £79.99 (excl VAT) also has a wireless
adapter allowing up to 127 wireless devices to be connected
- and no wires are needed between any of the devices.
|
|
| Line splitter/filters |
 |
| In addition to any
routers or modems, every telephone socket which is part
of the ADSL converted telephone line will also require
a line filter, if a telephone is to be connected to
that socket. |
|
| TOUCHCOMMS
ADSL filters are available from £6.37 (excl VAT).
